When it hails all day, sometimes the highlight is in the little things. Like getting to help with the bottle return. He loved it!

Also a successful day 2 in the big boy bed. Nap and now snuggled in for the night with no issues. He actually seems so much happier when he wakes up. It was different for me too, to wake up to him crawling under my covers instead of him yelling from the other room. 🙂

When Jesse told me this morning that he had found Orrin perched “spiderman style” (that’s hands and feet) on the rail of his crib, I knew the inevitable had arrived. I have been in denial about this impending change, where I would lose the last place in the house that I could put him and know that he would stay. I dreaded the nights of training him to stay in bed, because I couldn’t imagine him having that kind of freedom and not USING it!

BUT his safety is pretty much #1, so I took one side off the crib today, before he even had a chance to fall from his spiderman perch. 🙂 He was ecstatic. He desperately wanted to “help” so he kept stealing the screwdriver and sticking it in holes, saying “okay” as he went. And then when he realized that he could get in and out of his bed on his own, he just kept jumping in. He piled all of his favorite toys on his pillow.

And tonight when I put him to bed, he just cuddled down as usual and said “okay, night night! Bye bye mama!” He’s not even up playing with his trains.

When did my baby get so big?!

On a long forest walk with daddy. Apparently he kept laying down on the trail. 🙂

We got to visit with Nana, Papa, Cathy, Caroline, and Jason! And Gma of course. Orrin was way into all the different hats grandma has and was talking about riding his bike when he put the helmet on.

When we were getting ready to leave, he had been cuddled up with grandma, so he stuck his hand straight up at us and said “buh-bye!” Like, get out of here, I’m staying with grandma!

Orrin peed in the potty tonight! It’s not the first time, but it is the first time I told him to go potty, he thought about it, looked down, and then went! Like a real connection…maybe?

Not much to report today. Orrin was pretty cranky again, and seems to be going through a mama phase (which I am secretly loving most of the time). He is such a BOY too…so much growling today. Love him.

night night

Picture of his favorite game right now…it’s called “night night” and involves climbing under any blanket in the house. He loves to hide under there, but sometimes invites us in too. Other times he says “bye mama!” before disappearing. 🙂

Also today we were realizing how many things he is putting together. He wants to hang his jacket up when we get home. Sort of pretended to wash his hands and dried them on the towel in the kitchen. He also took his pants and diaper off (another favorite thing right now) and when we asked him where they were, he led us to the bedroom and showed us that he had stashed them in Jesse’s dresser drawer. He almost got them back on himself, but got his foot stuck and ended up throwing them of course.

Wow, just realized how impressed I am with him for the simplest things. Then again, I have been impressed with him from the minute he was a little bean with a heartbeat, so it’s not that surprising I guess. 😉

Today Orrin got on his horse on his own and figured out how to start rocking. Then he turned to me, wide eyed, and said “where hat?” So I brought it to him and made Jesse bring me a camera ASAP. I love how much he loves his hat and horse. It is so his own thing, and really makes me realize how much he is becoming a little independent person.

Also, can we talk about his temper? Oh my goodness, it is so strong. Today when he got frustrated with his trains, he started ripping the tracks up and throwing them and yelling. And I won’t even tell you about the battle we had at nap time! It’s crazy! Luckily daddy was home, because I gave up. Crazy that he can be this sweet little toddler one minute and then a roaring boy the next.

Crazyyy nap hair!

His entourage at bed time!

Also: he has clearly discovered joking. He is doing random stuff and then laughing this dramatic laugh when he realizes we are watching. He’s talking a ton too. Saying “okay!” constantly. He’s also repeating everything, like “hold my hand!” He also finally started saying please! Although he still signed it first. 🙂
